ENSC24 Avista Relay Lab
Team Members: Will Warren, Eric Lozoya,
Eric Rogers, Mohmmad Alshoibi
Faculty Advisor: Kevin Damron
Sponsor: Avista
Project Overview: The Avista T&D Power Laboratory has various items of equipment that can be used to demonstrate the theory and operation of power system protection. Students will research the available equipment and propose a plan to further expand the capabilities of the existing Protection Lab. They will then develop a set of experimental procedures that can be used to demonstrate equipment operation to other undergraduate engineering students.
Project Deliverables: Plan and construct an undergraduate power system protection/relay laboratory using the LabVolt, Omicron, and SEL equipment currently available in SEAS. Develop a set of experiments that can be used to demonstrate the principles of power system protection to junior and senior level undergraduate students.
Project Deliverables, intermediate and project end (to be fully negotiated with team early in project): Construct a set of workbenches that can be used with our LabVolt/Omicron equipment to demonstrate the operation of (SEL) protection devices.
Management & Communication Expectations: Project Schedule, (bi)weekly meetings
